About the Foundation

Justine Shome



Justine Shome serves as the Grants Program Manager for the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. She supports the general grants program and joined the Foundation in April 2020.

Prior to joining the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Ms. Shome was Program Lead for the Early Childhood Innovation Network (ECIN) and Child Health Advocacy Institute based at Children’s National Hospital. She collaborated across sectors to promote resilience in families with children from pregnancy through age five in Washington, DC. Ms. Shome designed strategy and implemented state-wide grants, racial equity initiatives, and branding.

Ms. Shome has deep experience with nonprofits, nonprofit board service, philanthropy, and the private sector. She has managed nonprofit partnerships and teams of pro bono consultants at Compass, consulted social enterprises while earning her MBA, strengthened strategy and evaluation at Single Stop USA, evaluated investments at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and worked in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Ms. Shome also led the Wharton Nonprofit Board Leadership Program and served on the board of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of New York City. 

She is engaged in many volunteer opportunities, including the Cherry Blossom Giving Circle and Mentoring Program for the Wharton Club of the National Capital Region. Ms. Shome received her M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. in Political Economy from Georgetown University.
