About the Foundation

Leigh B. Middleditch, Jr.


In addition to Mr. Middleditch’s service to the Foundation as a Trustee, he has served on the Board of Visitors and as Legal Advisor to the University of Virginia and was a founder of the University’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. He regularly lectured in UVA’s Law and Darden Graduate Business Schools and co-authored Virginia Civil Procedure.

Mr. Middleditch has been Chair of UVA’s Health Services Foundation, Virginia Health Care Foundation, Charlottesville-Albemarle Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Senior Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association and the ABA Board of Governors. He served as a Director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Trustee of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation (Monticello), and President of the University of Virginia Alumni and Law Associations. He chaired the University’s White Burkett Miller Foundation for the Study of the Presidency, served on the Board of Virginia’s Secure Commonwealth Panel and is on Boards of the Montpelier Foundation and the Virginia Council on Economic Education.

Mr. Middleditch received his law degree from the University of Virginia. He served as Counsel in the Charlottesville office of McGuireWoods LLP, specializing in Non-Governmental and Exempt Organizations. Mr. Middleditch served in the United States Navy and retired as a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
