About the Foundation

Randolph A. Sutliff

Deputy Executive Director for Operations and Trustee

Randolph A. Sutliff has a long history with the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. He worked for many years as legal counsel to Dr. Moore and to the Foundation before becoming a full-time Foundation Director. Today he serves as our Deputy Executive Director for Operations and is also a Trustee.

Sutliff was a principal in both McCandlish & Lillard and Milles & Stockbridge, serving in firm management as well as a wide ranging civil law practice representing numerous clients in corporate law, primarily with regard to corporate formation, operations, mergers and acquisitions, and liquidations. His experience also focused on real estate law: purchase and sales, land use, development, construction and financing.

He has served as senior advisor, director and/or chief counsel for many operating non-profits, including National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Dulles Area Transportation Association, Dulles Corridor Rail Association and Virginia Regional Transit.

He attended the University of Notre Dame (B.B.A. 1967) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. 1973 and MLT 1977). Between University and Law School, he served on active duty as a U.S. Coast Guard officer.
