Randolph A. Sutliff has a long history with the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. He worked for many years as legal counsel to Dr. Moore and to the Foundation before becoming a full-time Foundation Director. He served as our Deputy Executive Director for Operations until early 2022 and as Trustee.

Mr. Sutliff was a principal in both McCandlish & Lillard and Milles & Stockbridge, serving in firm management as well as a wide-ranging civil law practice representing clients in corporate law, primarily in the areas of corporate formation, operations, mergers and acquisitions, and liquidations. His experience also focused on real estate law: purchase and sales, land use, development, construction and financing.

He has served as senior advisor, director and/or chief counsel for many non-profits, including National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Dulles Area Transportation Association, Dulles Corridor Rail Association and Virginia Regional Transit.

He attended the University of Notre Dame (B.B.A. 1967) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. 1973 and MLT 1977). Between University and Law School, he served on active duty as a U.S. Coast Guard officer.
